Messerschmitt Me-509 (Source: Messerschmitt "O-Nine" Gallery)

The Me-509 was a development of the Me-309 with the engine placed in the middle of the fuselage. The cockpit was moved forward and the propeller was driven by a long extension shaft like in the Bell P-39.

When the Me-309 was cancelled the Me-509 design was also shelved.
