History

In 1948 the new Israeli Air Force Chel Ha'Avir was desperate to acquire fighter aircraft. The first they could find were 25 Czech Avia S-199. The S-199's were disliked by their Israeli pilots and the suffered greatly in the independence war of 1948 / 1949. Most of the aircraft were lost in accidents however. After the war only a handful were left.
